Guarding Minds @ Work:
A Workplace Guide to Psychological Safety & Health
now available at http://www.guardingmindsatwork.ca to all employers - large or small, public or private - at no cost.
Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is with great excitement that we announce that Guarding Minds @ Work (GM@W): A Workplace Guide to Psychological Safety and Health will officially go live today, Monday, April 20/09 as a public resource for employers across Canada! Guarding Minds @ Work gives managers, supervisors, union representatives, human resource teams and other business leaders the tools they need to assess risks to psychological health in their workplace and implement effective and lasting solutions.
Guarding Minds @ Work
is being launched today at the Industrial Accident Prevention Association (IAPA) Health and Safety Conference in Toronto. The Consortium for Organizational Mental Healthcare (COMH) is delivering a feature session on GM@W at the conference. We also have a hands-on exhibit, offering the conference's 6,000 delegates the opportunity to try Guarding Minds @ Work for themselves.
As many of you are aware, safeguarding mental health in the workplace is emerging as an ethical and legal obligation in Canada - one that calls for a proactive approach on behalf of Canadian employers.
A psychologically safe and healthy workplace minimizes threats to employee mental health while actively promoting the emotional well-being of employees. Psychologically safe workplaces are not only great environments - they are profitable! GM@W can help you reduce absenteeism and disability claims while enhancing staff loyalty and productivity.
Based on comprehensive research into evidence-based best practices, GM@W helps you detect risks to the psychological safety and health of your employees, while providing strategies for addressing these risks. You can adapt every step to your organizational needs.
Guarding Minds @ Work was developed by specialist researchers - Dr. Joti Samra, Dr. Merv Gilbert, Dr. Martin Shain and Dr. Dan Bilsker - with the Consortium for Organizational Mental Healthcare (COMH), Faculty of Health Sciences, Simon Fraser University, B.C. Guarding Minds @ Work has been commissioned by the Great-West Life Centre for Mental Health in the Workplace and funded by Great-West Life throughThe Key to Giving⢠- the national corporate citizenship program of Great-West Life, London Life and Canada Life.
With warm regards,
Dr. Joti Samra
Dr. Merv Gilbert
Dr. Martin Shain
Dr. Dan Bilsker
