Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) is an annual national public education campaign designed to raise awareness among Canadians about the significant social and economic impact mental illnesses have on our society. Campaign elements include a grassroots public education initiative, a national social marketing campaign, the annual Champions of Mental Health Awards, and education initiatives with senior government leaders.

This year the campaign is on track to reach more than 20 million Canadians with messages of hope and recovery through social marketing, advertising, a monthly newsletter, broadcast PSAs and social networking tools.

Visit www.miaw-ssmm.ca for information on mental illness and mental health, resources and tips for event planning, logos, success stories and to meet the 2008 Faces of Mental Illness.
