St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada – The Board of Directors for the National Network for Mental Health announced today that Constance McKnight is no longer employed in the position of National Executive Director effective March 1, 2010. McKnight joined the NNMH in 1998 as the National Executive Director and contributed to the growth of both the Canadian Alliance for Mental Illness and Mental Health (CAMIMH) and the Canadian Coalition for Alternative Mental Health Resources (CCAMHR) during her tenure with the organization.
“On behalf of the NNMH, its members and other stakeholders and partners (The Board of Directors) thanks Constance for her dedication to the NNMH over the years, and wishes her well in her future endeavors” said NNMH President Joan Edwards Karmazyn.
A separate announcement will be made shortly regarding McKnight’s successor. The NNMH Board of Directors along with Senior Management will assume overseeing the day to day operations of the organization until a National Executive Director is selected.
The National Network for Mental Health, which is run by and for mental health consumer/survivors, works to advocate, educate and provide expertise and resources that benefit the Canadian consumer/survivor community.

The focus of our organization is to network with Canadian consumer/survivors and family and friends of consumer/survivors to provide opportunities for resource sharing, information distribution and education on mental health issues. The principles of inclusion, informed choice and individuality are the focal point.
The individuality of each consumer/survivor is valued and appreciated. Working toward the common goal of advocating on behalf of the national mental health consumer/survivor community is accomplished by empowering individuals who together create a powerful united voice.
