Hello,
I'm the editor of CrossCurrents (www.camhcrosscurrents.net), a national magazine for frontline mental health and addiction professionals. We're doing a theme issue on how healthcare providers can themselves stigmatize and discriminate against people with mental health and substance use issues. We'd like to hear from you about your personal experience of stigma and discrimination by healthcare providers. Please answer one or both of the questions below in up to 200 words. If we publish your submission, we won't use your name. All you need to indicate is your city and/or province/territory. Please submit by January 18 to the editor at hema_zbogar@camh.net. Thanks.
Have you ever experienced stigma and discrimination by a healthcare provider? If so, what did it look like?
How can healthcare providers stop the stigma and discrimination? Have you had an experience where a healthcare provider has done a good job of ending that stigma and discrimination?
