The Mental Health Commission of Canada is issuing two Requests for Interest (RFI's) related to our 10-year Anti-stigma / Anti-discrimination Initiative.
We know that to be effective in our goal of reducing stigma and discrimination related to mental health issues and illnesses, we need to go beyond a mass marketing campaign and take instead a targeted approach reaching out to specific groups. In the first year of our Initiative, we are targeting youth (aged 12 - 1) and health care professionals.
The Commission is aware programs already exist in Canada aimed at helping these two groups reduce stigma and discrimination. Many of these projects would work in other communities if shared across the country. Through these RFI's, the Commission wants to identify the many varied programs underway in Canada. We want to choose some of the most promising to serve as pilot projects with the Commission.
The attached Request for Interest documents provide information about the type of programs we are looking for and how to register. If you have a program to tell us about, we invite you to fill in our on-line survey. If your organization runs more than one relevant program you can complete more than one survey.
The Commission also appreciates you sharing these RFI's with other interested individuals or organizations. We also want to create a compendium of anti-stigma programs operating in Canada which will serve as a valuable resource.
The registration forms can be accessed by clicking on the links below:
