The National Network for Mental Health (NNMH) will be hosting a pre-conference symposium in St. Catharines, Ontario on August 27, 2007.

Guests will include consumer leaders from Ireland, Scotland, England, Australia, New Zealand, United States and Canada.

Subsequent to this meeting of consumer leaders all international guests will subsequently gather at the International Initiative on Mental Health Leadership in Ottawa, Canada for an international gathering August 29 - 31, 2007. ...

In June 2007, the Canadian Brain and Nerve Health Coalition, in partnership with the Canadian Institute for Health Information and the Public Health Agency of Canada, published a report on the burden of neurological diseases, disorders and injuries in Canada. A key element of the mandate of the Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) is to reduce the stigma of mental illness and combat the discrimination that people with mental illness and their families confront. The Commission will implement a 10-year national anti-stigma campaign aimed at promoting a better understanding of mental illness among the general population and at changing public attitudes toward mental illness.

As you know from previous editions of the NNMH Bulletin the closing date for applications to become a Board Member of the newly formed Mental Health Commission of Canada (MHCC) is July 15th, 2007.

Currently the MHCC is in search of a successful candidate for the position of President and CEO.
