Mission Statement

The National Network for Mental Health exists to advocate, educate, and provide expertise and resources for the increased health and well-being of the Canadian mental health consumer/survivor community.

Goals

To Educate Canadian society-at large about issues affecting quality of life for mental health consumer/survivors in their communities.

To Educate the Canadian mental health consumer/survivors about shifts in attitude and legislation that may affect their Quality of Life.

To Provide networking opportunities for mental health consumers/survivors and consumer/survivor driven organizations within Canada.

To Provide a variety of capacity-building resources to the Canadian mental health consumer/survivor community, their families and interested others.

To Provide resources to mental health consumer/survivors and family members and interested others, where financial resources allow.

To Advocate on a national level for the Canadian mental health consumer/survivor community.

To Pressure the Federal, Provincial and Territorial governments to widen funding for Mental Health services and supports, and to include peer-support, psychology and other alternative therapies within the context of those services and supports.

About Us

The purpose of the National Network for Mental Health, which is run by and for mental health consumer/survivors, is to advocate, educate and provide expertise and resources that benefit the Canadian consumer/survivor community.

The focus of our organization is to network with Canadian consumer/survivors and family and friends of consumer/survivors to provide opportunities for resource sharing, information distribution and education on issues impacting persons living with mental health issues/illness/disability.

The principals of inclusion, informed choice and individuality are the focal point. The individuality of each consumer/survivor is valued and appreciated. Working toward the common goal of advocating on behalf of the national mental health consumer/survivor community is accomplished by empowering individuals who together create a powerful united voice.

To this end, the organization involves itself in a number of initiatives which include:

http://nnmh.ca/images/bullet.gifPartnering with other organizations to better serve our community.  This is achieved through coalition building, creation of materials for our constituency, public relations and working with governments and the private sector.

The hope of the National Network for Mental Health is to support the empowerment process of all Canadian consumer/survivors, and to enhance their quality of life through our national programs, advocacy and information dissemination efforts.

Code of Ethics

 

Honesty, Sincerity, and Moral Values exist in the individual, or they do not exist at all. Integrity and ethical standards must be maintained by every individual, or they are not maintained at all.
